Node management
Overview
Barbara Panel's remote Edge node lifecycle management allows you to register, unregister, and control your Edge Nodes (hardware devices). This includes restarting them for maintenance or security reasons, deactivating them to isolate them from the network, or even blocking them completely if a physical threat compromises their data security.
Edge Node Lifecycle

Edge Node Lifecicle
The lifecycle diagram outlines the three main stages:
- Unregistered: Nodes not yet registered in Barbara Panel.
- Deactivated: Nodes listed in Barbara Panel but retaining factory configuration and no stored data. They don't send/receive telemetry or commands.
- Activated: Fully operational Nodes within Barbara Panel.
Node Management Functions
Access these functions through the Manage Node button (ON/OFF icon) on the top right of the Node details view.

Manage Node Button
- Clicking the
Manage Nodebutton opens the "Node Management" side menu with the following options:

Manage Node Side menu
Activate
This command applies only to the Nodes that are in the deactivated state. The command makes the Node operational and prompts the Node to start sending telemetry data and receiving commands from the system.
Deactivate
Performs a factory reset on the Node, including network configuration. The Node remains listed and can be reactivated (requires valid network configuration).
Delete
This command both deactivates and removes the Node from the system. Any information related to the Node becomes deleted from the system. It won't appear in the Nodes list but can be added back. However, if its factory default did not include a valid network configuration, the Node won't be reachable.
Reboot
Restarts the Edge Node, disconnecting it temporarily. Running applications will automatically respawn upon reboot.
Shut Down
Remotely shuts down the Node.
Once powered off, the Edge Node requires a physical manual action to power it on again.
Wipe & Brick
Deletes all Node information, useful for blocking compromised Nodes due to physical threats.
Once wiped, the Edge Node requires a physical manual action to completely re-install it.
